“Kick Up Your Feet and Relax” Mother’s Day Gift Basket

My mom is one of the greatest women I know. She has always been there for me. When I was little, she sang songs to me to help me go to sleep. In elementary school, she stayed up all night to help me make a science fair project that I forgot about until the day before. When I broke up with my first boyfriend, she rocked me in the rocking chair and let me bawl my eyes out. She made my wedding dress. She has been there to help me after the birth of all three of my children. She’s smart, fun-loving, kind, courageous, and just all around amazing!

My mom does so much for my whole family that this year for Mother’s Day, I’m going to tell her to kick up her feet and relax! I put together a little gift basket with that theme in mind.

I bought an Amope Foot File and Foot Cream, then to finish off the gift basket, I included nail polish, a box of chocolates from my favorite local sweet shop, and a jar of homemade lemon brown sugar scrub.

I just recently discovered sugar scrubs, and now I am addicted. A sugar scrub exfoliates and moisturizes at the same time. I love to use sugar scrubs on my knees and elbows, and legs and arms… okay, everywhere! And guess what? They are super easy to make at home! Here’s how to create your very own lemon brown sugar scrub:

Ingredients:

1/2 cup brown sugar
1 cup white sugar
1/2 cup olive oil or coconut oil (I like both)
lemon fragrance oil or essential oil (lemon extract used for baking works well too)

Measure all ingredients into a mixing bowl and stir together until evenly combined. Spoon sugar mixture into a cute glass jar, add a label, and you’re done!
