I’ve had my eye on a gorgeous antique wooden wall shelf from Hobby Lobby for months now:
I finally busted out a coupon, brought the shelf home with me and am loving on it so hard. I have come up with so many different ways to use this little cubby shelf that I thought it would be fun to share some of those ideas with you today.
Update: this exact shelf is no longer being sold, but there are some seriously cute new products that would work similarly. Check out all of the wall shelves and organizers at Hobby Lobby.
Vintage Spice Rack
I grabbed a variety of glass jars while I was at Hobby Lobby and filled them with kitchen herbs and spices. I printed out the name of each spice and inserted it into the little metal label holders on each cubby. I love the mismatched look because it seems like the jars were collected over time. It really gives off an apothecary vibe and is so fitting for farmhouse decor.
Isn’t this the prettiest spice rack you ever did see? Now, I will warn you… this shelf is too big to fit under most kitchen cabinets, so if you want to set it on your kitchen counter, you’ll need to measure before you buy it. It would work better if you have a wall to hang it on.
Succulent Planter
I’m a sucker for succulents. They add something fresh and modern when paired with a vintage, rustic piece like this shelf. And I’ll share a little secret with you… I plant fake succulents in real dirt!! GASP. The secrets I spill on the internet! 🤣 But it’s a win-win in my book. People think they are real plants and I don’t have to remember to water anything!
Mug Shelf
Our family goes through approximately 1,000 cups per day. I’m getting tired of using the entire top rack of the dishwasher because no one wants to keep track of their cup. SO… I was thinking that if each person had a slot in the cubby shelf with their name printed in the metal label, then they might put their cup back and only use one per day.
I’ll let you know how it goes. (insert eye roll)
Craft Organizer
You knew this one was coming, right? I just can’t help it! I love having my cute craft stuff out on display! These cubbies are just the right size for storing craft paint, ribbon, jars full of smaller notions, crochet thread, etc. I love the contrast of the weathered wood against all of the colorful craft stuff. This is my jam, people! Color + antiques! LOVE!
If you’re a quilter, it would be the perfect way to organize fabric scraps and fat quarters. Look at the cubby on the bottom right hand side:
It’s perfect, isn’t it?! Imagine the entire shelf full of fabric like that. Totally DREAMY!
These are just a few of the ways I’ve come up with to use this shelf. It would be adorable in a bathroom with each cubby filled with pretty soaps, jars of cotton balls and such. I would love to use it in a boy’s bedroom and fill each cubby with vintage airplanes, old baseballs, etc. What would you do with this shelf?
This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Hobby Lobby. The opinions and text are all mine.
