This large scale wall art was inexpensive and easy to make out of a large paper gift bag.
It all started when I was at Ross a few weeks ago and I spotted this gift bag:
I fell in love. With a gift bag. I knew I had to buy it but I definitely didn’t want to put a present in it and give it to anyone. I wanted it all to myself. So I came up with a unique way to use it… I turned it into a big sign for my craft room!
I started by cutting off the front of the bag (the side without the fold line).
The center words weren’t metallic enough for me, so I used my Sharpie paint pen to trace the letters and add some bling.
Then I found some thin wood scraps in the garage, cut them down to length and attached them around the edges of the bag to form a “frame.” My husband is going to cringe when he sees this. LOL.
Right as I was about to glue them down, I decided they needed a wash of color. So I mixed up half craft paint and half water and gave them a quick paint job.
It took me less than an hour from start to finish and now look at this stinkin’ cute custom sign!
I tell ya, this project opened up a whole new world for me. I will never walk down the gift bag aisle the same way! I already want to make another one.

I love this! I love gift bags, too, and this is a fabulous idea! I found a greeting card the other day, wanted to buy and frame it, but talked myself out of it. I had it in my cart, wandered all over the store, and put it back, on my way to the check out. Totally feel justified in going back for it now. Thank you for that! 🙂
