Turn an inexpensive round placemat into a pretty basket to hang on your front door.
Hi friends! I am so excited to share this super easy and inexpensive craft idea with you today. We’re going to turn a round placemat into a pretty basket to hang on your front door in lieu of a traditional wreath.
To make one, you only need a few supplies.
Materials Needed
- Round Placemat
- 10 Inch Wood Bead Wreath
- Hot Glue Gun + Glue Sticks
- Ribbon
- Greenery + Floral Stems
I got my placemat at Hobby Lobby. It comes in lots of fun colors. They also had many other cute round placemats to choose from in all different materials and styles, so there is a lot of room for customizing the finished look. I kind of want to make 20 of these! LOL.
The wood bead wreath I used is from Dollar Tree. Can’t beat the price and it’s the perfect size for this project.
Instructions
Step 1: Roll the placemat into a cone shape and glue it into place along all the edges.
Step 2: Insert the wood bead wreath so it fits inside the top of the cone and glue it into place.
Step 3: Fill the pocket you created with greenery and/or flower stems. I love the faux lavender I used!
Step 4: Finish it off a cute bow at the top and you’re done!
I’m pretty sure this entire craft can be made in 15 minutes or less. The basket and handle only cost me $3.25 and I already had the ribbon and greenery, but even if you had to buy those, you could easily make this craft for less than $10. Woot!
I am excited to be able to change out the flowers and ribbon and give this door hanger a new look for different seasons. Won’t that be so fun?! You could definitely use it year round that way!
