Cute ways to craft with upcycled denim from old jeans!
The weather’s getting warmer and the kids’ pants are getting holes in the knees. It’s the right time of year to start making cut-off jeans!
But what do you do with the leftover fabric from the bottom of each pant leg? No worries, friends. I’ve got you covered with these projects you can make with the leftover denim, no pant tops required!
Denim Toddler Skirt
I turned the bottom of my cut-off jeans into a toddler sized skirt.
DIY Denim Whale
Look at this adorable stuffed whale made of denim. My kids would love this!
Denim Lunch Bags
These lunch sacks from The Purl Bee are so cute and because they are made from denim, they’d be super sturdy! For some reason the link directly to the pattern won’t stick. So you’ll have to click on the link below, then search for “lunch bag” on the page.
Denim Bibs
I love the trim on these denim bibs and if you’ve got an especially drooly baby, the thick fabric would be awesome!
Pants Pocket Advent Calendar
The best part of any pair of jeans are the pockets, of course, so this advent calendar idea is just too fun!
Denim Floor Pouf
This floor poof is more like a work of art. The contrasting stitching is such a fun detail. I am in love!
Indigo Star Quilt
There are no instructions for this quilt. It is pure eye candy. But just look at the amazing texture of those stars. And the denim paired with crisp white makes it look so expensive.
Denim Throw Pillows
How about a few throw pillows? I love that chevron pattern and the tone-on-tone vibes. You could do so many different variations.
Denim Baby Shoes
These adorable baby shoes include a link to a pattern you can purchase to recreate them.
Make Denim Luggage Tags
Make these cute denim luggage tags. They’ll wear great since denim is such a sturdy fabric.
Pant Leg Gift Bag
This upcycled pant leg makes a great gift bag. It only takes one seam to make too! Easy peasy!
Denim Baskets
I’d love to have a few of these denim bags. You can never have enough storage, especially cute storage!
Pencil Roll
I recently showed you how to make a fabric brush roll. A denim brush roll would be cute and super sturdy. A fun new twist!
Drawstring Denim Purse
I love this little drawstring purse made from denim. What little girl wouldn’t love to tuck her treasures safely inside?
Detailed Denim Quilt
And last but not least, I just had to share one more denim quilt because it’s just so pretty. If you look closely, you can see the large squares are stitched to mimic pockets. Such an adorable detail!
Go visit some of these links and give the awesome creators some love. So many great projects!

I love the skirt you made and the bibs! I always make capris or shorts out of my old jeans for the summer. These would be perfect projects for me to make for my 14 month granddaughter. Thanks for sharing!

Oh, good! I'm so glad you liked them, and so glad to hear I'm not the only one cutting up jeans for the summer. 🙂

I really like the bibs and the bags. I just cut off some jeans that were too short and they have really nice embroidery down the leg. Those bags would be great for that!
