With little ones around, it seems that our kitchen towels are always on the floor. So when I saw THIS TUTORIAL from Pin.Sew.Press, I fell in love. What a cute solution! I made these as a gift, but I definitely need some for my kitchen next!
I got my towels from WalMart. They are really soft. A two-pack was about $3.50. The only other supplies needed are two yards of ribbon per towel and two strips of fabric about 3 inches tall and the width of the towel. Yay for no more towels puddled on the floor below the oven!
Hmm… I may need to do this in the bathroom too…

Just found your blog. I love it! I'm very new to sewing and crafting and such. I just learned how to sew this past summer. I love this idea for no towels on the floor, but I don't understand it. How did you make this towel? I have an 18-month-old, but even before she came along we couldn't keep the towels on the stove! 🙂

I have made this countless times for myself and gifts and they are always a huge hit. I skip the additional fabric on the bottom, even though it's cute that way. Looks like you did too. 🙂 I get the bar mops from Target and they work well too.

I have made several of these towels as gifts. They are a big hit, but after they are washed the gather comes out every time. Why is this happening?
The gather is just a ribbon tied through the pockets you made with the fabric. If it’s coming out when washed, can’t you just retie the ribbon?
