We’ve been hard at work in the craft room the last two weeks. While I was out of town, my husband and his brother did all the demolition (pics HERE), which included ripping out almost all of the walls and the entire ceiling. Here’s what it looked like the last time I shared photos:
We framed in the entire wall along the exterior where the shoddy shelving used to be and added all new insulation:
We also framed in a closet:
Now our home can sell as a four bedroom home. That’s a pretty sweet deal.
Last night my husband put up the last piece of drywall:
It’s looking so good, dontcha think?
The electrical proved to be tricky. We installed a wall heater, a light in the closet, and added several extra outlets. Luckily my husband has a friend who’s an electrician. He came over and told us what we needed to do and what needed to be hooked up where.
Next comes the most horrible part…tape, mud and texture. We’re going to try to bust it out quickly. We have 27 people coming to stay with us over Memorial Day weekend and we will definitely need the extra space. Our goal is to at least tape, clean up and sweep. And put Mom and Dad in this room… because they have to love us no matter what, right?
Just for fun, here’s a little “before” and “during” shot with what we’ve got so far:
Lots of work still left to do, but I can’t tell you how excited I am to have a craft room again.
