You will love creating these cute little fairy dolls made out of silk flowers and wooden clothespins.
One of my sweet readers, Twila W., sent me the idea for this craft. Thanks, Twila! They were so, so fun to make!
These miniature flower fairies made from wooden clothespins are one of the most fun crafts I have ever done. I really enjoyed the creative process and watching each fairy’s personality come to life as I added each piece. It was an easy craft that just let me have a happy, creative moment. I loved it!
To make your own flower fairies, you will need: (affiliate links)
Materials
- assorted silk flowers
- silk rose petals
- mini leaves
- wooden doll clothespins
- doll clothespin stands
- fabric tape
- hot glue and glue sticks
- scissors
- q-tips
- black Sharpie marker
- pink chalk or oil pastel
Instructions
Begin by separating the flowers from the stems and centers. It’s easy… just pull firmly and the pieces will come apart.
Next, add slits to the center hole until it is big enough to fit around the clothespins.
Slide the flower onto the clothespin and secure with hot glue.
Add a “belt” of fabric tape to cover the top edges of the flower.
Add rose petal wings with hot glue.
I found that one single hydrangea blossom made a perfect hat.
Use a Sharpie marker to add eyes. Rub the end of a q-tip on some pink chalk, then dab a bit of “blush” on the cheeks.
And that’s all it takes to make these cute, cute fairies! I kind of went crazy and made a bunch. This one has leafy wings and a fuller daisy skirt:
I made the next fairy’s princess hat with a rolled up flower petal and her skirt is made of layered rose petals.
The purple fairy has a daisy sunhat and a rose leaf skirt.
The white fairy’s rose petal skirt is my favorite! I folded rose petals over for her wings and added blue daisies folded around them for a little splash of color.
I just love how each fairy is different and unique and full of personality.
I lined them all up on my craft room windowsill and just seeing them there makes me smile.

My kids also loved this craft. They were able to do the craft all by themselves with just a bit of supervision with the hot glue. If you’re looking for a craft for kids, I’d say this would definitely go over well.

Where do you find the stands!

I linked to them in the materials list. I bought them online, but a lot of times, they have them next to the clothespins at craft stores.

I love these little fairies. I would love to be able to print out the directions so that my group of seniors can make them as a group project. Are there printble inctrucitons available ?

I love the clothespin fairies! Where can I get the clothespins and the base? I teach a Crafty Ladies class and I know the ladies would love these! I order my supplies for the entire class. Thank you.

Love this idea! I want to make them. I followed the link for the flowers but a big assortment came up. What kind of flowers are used here? Can I get all the colors at the same place?
Mahalo!!

The best thing to do would be to head to Dollar Tree, Walmart or a craft store like Hobby Lobby or Joann and walk down the floral aisle. Pick anything! Roses and daisies both work well, but almost any flower can be used!

I just made these with a group of senior living residents and they adored them!! My husband even said it is the prettiest thing we have done yet. We have 2 huge tubs of leftover flowers and will probably do this project again. Thank you for sharing!!

Any ideas what to use in place of the stands? We have everything else and would rather not make a trip to the craft store.

Maybe you could build up a ring of hot glue around the bottom so they stand upright? Or glue them to a popsicle stick or canning lid?

This is SO clever! I love all your variations for each little fairy. I think this would make an excellent craft for the rehab senior center I volunteer at. Thank you so much for sharing a very clear and concise tutorial!
