For the frosting:
12 Kraft caramels, unwrapped
1 teaspoon water
4 Tablespoons butter, softened
1/2 cup + powdered sugar
Melt the caramels and water together over a double boiler or carefully in the microwave (do 20 seconds at a time and stir in between). Let cool. Add butter and powdered sugar and beat with an electric mixer until smooth and fluffy. Add more powdered sugar if needed to achieve desired consistency.
Frost cooled cookies and then try not to eat them all at once.

Just as you are having cooler weather and thinking of food to warm the soul, I am now searching for salad and food that is quick to prepare without having to turn on the oven as we approach summer. These cookies do look yummy.
