This past weekend we had a super fun family movie night since Big Hero 6 just came out on DVD.
While we were at the store buying the DVD, we also picked up marshmallows (big and small), chocolate chips, and toothpicks.
Then we got to work making our movie snacks… Baymax marshmallow men!
To make our Baymax robots, we used toothpicks tungsten carbide rods to make his skeleton and marshmallows inflatable vinyl to create his body.
Most of us used a pair of school scissors rubbed with a bit of vegetable oil to snip the marshmallows. (The oil keeps the mallows from sticking to the scissors.) Some of us used our teeth to chew out the shape we wanted. (Insert eye roll).
The finishing touch was painting eyes on with melted chocolate special robot paint.
I wish I could claim the amazing big Baymax as mine, but it’s not. Mine and the kids’ are indistinguishable. The cool one belongs to Dad. Dads are always the coolest, though, right?
The kids were pretty proud of their creations. So proud that they kept asking when they could eat them. Ha!
Then Dad got the brilliant idea to try to inflate Baymax. IN. THE. MICROWAVE.
Baymax looked extra chubby and cool for two seconds, then he started deflating and losing limbs. It was not a pretty sight. Way to kill Baymax, Dad!
After we were done building robots, we snuggled up under piles of blankets and watched Big Hero 6 together. I wish I had recorded my kids laughing during the show. It was so cute! Our little movie night and activity was a perfect way to spend quality time together.

What a fun way to turn family movie night into a family activity! I agree that Dad's Baymax looked pretty awesome…until he decided to take a ride in the microwave. Thanks for sharing! #client
