These beaded pipe cleaner hearts are an easy, mess-free Valentine’s Day craft for kids.
If you’re looking for a quick and easy, mess-free Valentine’s Day craft for kids, this idea is for you! Today we’re making beaded hearts for Valentine’s Day. They’re super cute and simple enough that even my three year old can make them. You only need a few materials.
Materials Needed
- Chenille Stems (aka Pipe Cleaner)
- Assorted Beads in Valentine’s Day Colors
- Scissors
- Baker’s Twine or Ribbon for Hanging, optional
I dug around in my bead stash and had tons of beads that worked, but I also found several cute bead options online. These heart beads are fun. These Valentine Pony Beads would be your best bet if you are doing this craft for a class party or preschool or something like that.
Instructions
Step 1: Have your child string beads onto a chenille stem. I like to dump a handful of beads onto a piece of felt to keep them from rolling around. This also prevents the child from spilling the entire package of beads.
Step 2: Keep adding beads until there’s only about 1/2 inch left on either side.
Step 3: Twist the two ends together to form the bottom tip of the heart, then bend the pipe cleaner into the shape of a heart.
To make a large sized heart, just use two pieces of pipe cleaner and join them at the bottom tip and the inner indentation.
You can hang them in a window using baker’s twine or use them as a gift topper or I’m sure you can come up with a dozen other fun ways to display them.
Aren’t they cute? They’re a perfect little craft for preschool or elementary school class parties or for doing at home with the kids.
