Apple cider syrup is perfect for a special fall breakfast! This delicious homemade pancake syrup is quick and easy to make, but will take your pancakes to the next level.
Are you ready for a heavenly recipe that just screams fall? Look no further! I made Apple Cider Syrup last night for dinner and it was so delicious. My five year old said he wanted to eat it without the french toast. I kind of agree with him. It really was that good!
It took our run-of-the-mill French toast to new heights and had us dreaming of strolling through apple orchards and jumping in piles of colorful, crunchy leaves.
The syrup is quick to make. You start with cornstarch, sugar and cinnamon in a cold pan, then slowly whisk in the apple cider and lemon juice before turning on the heat to cook it. This is to prevent lumps forming in the cornstarch. Have you ever made slime or GAK with cornstarch? Yeah, you don’t want that in your syrup.
Once the dry and wet ingredients are combined, gently stir and heat until the mixture thickens. Then remove it from the heat and add butter for richness, then you’re ready to serve!
I get the syrup cooking while I’m flipping pancakes or waiting for the waffle iron to cook, so it’s pretty easy to line up the timing so that everything is ready to go at the same time.
Give this recipe a try! It’s one of our all-time favorites!

Mmmm, how long will this keep in the fridge, this will be good with pancakes. I currently make a syrup using oranges but this would be nice for a change, thanks.

Ours never lasts long enough for me to know… but I'd guess a week to 10 days?
