Need a cute and easy no-carve pumpkin decorating idea? Make a miniature witch’s hat out of scrapbook paper, add rolled paper flowers and adhesive vinyl eyes and you’ll have the cutest Halloween decoration on the block!
Today I’m sharing a fun and easy pumpkin decorating idea. I turned my pumpkin into an adorable witch. It’s cute, not creepy, which is just how I like my Halloween decorations. Let me show you how I made my witch’s hat out of scrapbook paper using my trusty Silhouette machine.
Step 1: To get started, round up these materials:
- Silhouette Cameo + Cutting Mat
- Patterned scrapbook paper (two 12×12 pieces for the hat and scraps for the flowers)
- Black adhesive craft vinyl (affiliate link)
Then you will need to download the following cut files from the Silhouette Design Store:
Step 2: Cut out all of the shapes using your Silhouette Cameo. The largest flower I made sized up to be about 6 inches across when flat. The smallest was about 4 inches across.
Step 3: Assemble the hat by taping the tabs from the pointy part of the hat to the underside of the hat brim, like this:
Step 4: Create the paper flowers. Start at the tail end and roll towards the circle in the middle. Cover the middle circle with hot glue, then secure the spiral of petals into place.
Step 5: Attach the flowers to the hat with hot glue.
Optional: Add a bit of trim or ribbon or pom poms around brim of the hat.
Step 6: Peel off the adhesive vinyl eyes and stick them onto the pumpkin. They are so small and forgiving that you don’t even need to use transfer tape. Glue the hat into place and your pumpkin is done!
