Unicorns… they are everywhere lately! But I totally get the obsession… they’re magical, glittery and colorful! If you’re throwing a unicorn birthday party or just want a super cute treat, I’ve got a fun unicorn food craft idea to share with you today.
I transformed ordinary sugar cones into magical unicorn horns! They were so fun and easy to do. Let me show you just how you can make them too.
First, I took a trip to Hobby Lobby and bought supplies. Everything I used was located in the baking/candy making aisle. I bought candy wafers in a few different magical unicorn colors. Then I loaded up on a variety of sprinkles… because unicorns and sprinkles just go together!
I found these edible gold stars and knew they would be perfect for a unicorn dessert.
Once you’ve gathered all of your supplies, pour the candy melts onto a microwave safe plate. Keep them separated by color, like this:
Melt the candy in the microwave in 30 second increments until it’s smooth and fully melted. Then roll each sugar cone in the candy melt until it’s coated. You can use your finger to smooth it and swirl the colors.
Place on a tray and dust them with the gold star sprinkles while the candy coating is still wet. I tried using the larger sprinkles and didn’t love the way they looked. But I do think it would look fantastic if you dipped just the bottom end of the cones in the bigger sprinkles the same way you would rim a glass.
Once the unicorn horns are dry, scoop a few scoops of your favorite colorful ice cream into these adorable ice cream dishes and place the horn on top. I added little eyes to my ice cream dishes with a Sharpie marker just for fun, but that’s optional.
Watch this video tutorial to see just how easy it is.
OR you can serve them as traditional ice cream cones…
… which is also cute if you ask me.
I just love the marbled effect on the cones. The bright colors plus the golden star sprinkles just scream unicorn magic, don’t you think?

How long are the cones good for? Do they get mushy? Could you make them a few days in advance?
Jennifer says
You could definitely make them in advance. They don’t get mushy because the chocolate hardens.
